About Me
Tina D. Connan, LMHC, NBCC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor | Certified K-12 Teacher | Teen Life Coach
I didn’t always work in mental health. In fact, my career began in a completely different world—on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. As a stockbroker, I was surrounded by high-stakes deals and wealth-building opportunities, helping clients achieve financial success. But then, one moment changed everything.
I remember reading about a school principal caught using drugs outside his own elementary school, and it shook me to my core. While I was helping people build fortunes, I realized there were children suffering—kids who needed guidance, stability, and someone who genuinely cared about their well-being. That moment sparked something inside me, and I knew I had to make a change.
I left Wall Street and pursued a career that allowed me to help children, teens, and families in a meaningful way. I became a Certified K-12 Teacher, starting my journey as a Physical Education teacher and coach in New York City. I worked with students both in the classroom and on the field, coaching track and tennis while mentoring young athletes in developing resilience, discipline, and confidence. Seeing the deep emotional and personal struggles many students faced, I knew I wanted to make an even greater impact.
This led me to earn my degree in counseling and become a National Board Certified Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Since then, I have spent over 25 years helping young people build confidence, emotional resilience, and life skills to navigate the challenges they face.
A Unique Perspective: From Finance to Therapy to Coaching
My journey from Wall Street to the classroom, the track, and ultimately the therapy office has given me a unique perspective on life’s challenges. I understand high-pressure environments, how stress impacts performance, and the importance of mental strength and resilience—lessons I now teach to the children, teens, and young adults I work with.
As both a mental health professional and a certified educator, I blend clinical expertise with real-world understanding, helping kids and families find solutions that work both at home and in school.
